SmartSKAN is a new device which provides an accurate evaluation of sweat gland function. Measurement is based on an electrochemical reaction between electrodes and chloride of the sweat glands after being stimulated (by low-level voltage).

It’s a dynamic method allowing evidence of sweat dysfunction, not necessarily detectable in physiological conditions.

Quantitative results are expressed as Electrochemical Sweat Conductance for the hands and feet. A relative risk score demonstrating severity of dysautonomia is derived from ESC values and demographic data.

SmartSKAN produces detailed reports and quantitative data which enables physicians to assess small nerve fiber dysfunction, further enhancing medical professional ability to pinpoint the etiology of disease resulting from disturbances in the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS).
